Our Background

The NYAA Programme was officially launched in May 1992 by the President of the Republic of Singapore. Our mission is to groom and maximise the potential of our young people, preparing them for meaningful service to the community and the nation.

As a collaborative effort, all secondary schools, junior colleges, Institutes of Technical Education (ITEs), polytechnics, universities, national uniformed organisations, youth, and community clubs are Operating Partners of the NYAA Programme. Together, we create a comprehensive network to empower and nurture our youth.

In addition to the core NYAA Programme, we offer various youth-related activities and leadership capacity-building programs. These initiatives are crucial in preparing our young individuals for leadership roles and service to the community.

The NYAA Council partners with government ministries, statutory boards, NGOs, and international agencies. This collaboration provides diverse opportunities and platforms to develop the next generation of leaders and prepare them for community leadership, both locally and globally.

Managed by the NYAA Council, the day-to-day operations are led by Mr James Soh, the Executive Director. Mr Eugene Seah Hsiu-Min, Global Board Member, COO (Singapore Operations), Senior Director, GCEO Office & Special Projects, Meinhardt (Singapore) Pte Ltd and NYAA Gold Award holder (1995 Cohort), chairs the NYAA Council, while Mr Heng Swee Keat, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies, leads the Advisory Board.

As a non-profit organisation with an Institution of Public Character (IPC) status, the NYAA Council upholds transparency and ethical conduct in all our endeavours.

Join us as we shape the leaders of tomorrow, empowering them to impact their communities positively and beyond. Together, we build a better future for all.
