1. What is the NYAA Junior Programme?

The NYAA Junior Programme aligns with the Ministry of Education’s Character and Citizenship Education and Co-Curricular Activities departments, aiming to support students in achieving the desired outcomes of education attributes. The programme instils sound values, nurtures curiosity, and fosters confident thinking and expression. Participants will take pride in their learning journey, acquire new skills, and embrace a healthy lifestyle. Through civic responsibility activities and diverse learning experiences, students will develop a deeper connection with Singapore and have additional opportunities to explore their potential and boost their self-esteem.

  • selflessness in serving
  • a sense of adventure and challenge
  • a deeper understanding of their surroundings
  • an appreciation for the family as a basic unit of society, and

2. I am interested to join the NYAA Junior Programme. What should I do?

If your school has onboarded the NYAA Junior programme, contact your school’s designated NYAA Award Coordinator to sign up for the programme. Schools may contact us at [email protected] to seek clarification on Butterfly Award matters. You may join the NYAA Junior Programme (Butterfly Award) via two ways, either through your school or as an individual.

Individual

If your school does not have a coordinator, Individuals may sign up here, and follow the steps below:

  1. Pay the registration fee – $7 (Kindly note that the fee is only a nominal sum to indicate your commitment in participating in the NYAA Junior Programme.)
  2. The Butterfly Award Booklet will be issued to you.
  3. Begin your activities and record your progress in your Butterfly Award Booklet.
  4. When you have finished the programme, make sure your booklet is completed and signed by your assessor. Assessors can be your teacher-in-charge or organisations that you have worked with for your activities.

Send your completed booklet to your NYAA Coordinator for endorsement. Upon approval, you will then be notified of when you will receive your certificate and badge.

3. How long does it take to complete the NYAA Junior Programme?

You can proceed at your own pace and take as long as you like, provided you finish the NYAA Junior Programme before you graduate from primary school. The minimum permissible period for completing the NYAA Junior Award is 4 months.

4. How does the NYAA Junior Programme help me?

The NYAA Butterfly Programme is a leadership development award that provides you with opportunities and platforms to develop your potential to the fullest.

  1. It helps you discover interests and talents you never knew you had.
  2. It gives you a certificate and a badge as a record of your achievements.
  3. It is supported by both the Government and industry.
5. Must I belong to a group or an organisation to join the NYAA Junior Programme?

No, if you don’t belong to a group or an organisation, you can still participate in the NYAA Junior Programme as an independent candidate through the NYAA Council. However, many participants join through a group or an organisation because it is more convenient and fun.

6. Is there an age limit?

The NYAA Junior Programme is catered for primary school students from age 9 – 12 years (Primary 3 to Primary 6).

7. Do I have to sign up for the NYAA Junior Programme every year?

No, the NYAA Junior Programme – The Butterfly Award is a one-time award. You will only need to register for the programme once between Primary 3 and Primary 6.

8. What are the modes of payment for the registration fees?

For individual sign-ups, we accept payment via PayNow, PayLah and bank transfer.

9. Can foreign students who are 13 or 14 years old but is in Primary 6 join the NYAA Junior Programme?

Yes, they can. As long as they are still in the primary school system.

10. Can students from international school join the NYAA Junior Programme?

Yes, of course!

11. Is there a closing date for the registration?

No, there is no closing date for the registration. You can register any time when you are ready.

12. Is there a closing date for the submissions of the Butterfly Award booklet?

Yes, the deadline for submission of the Butterfly Award booklet is the end of October of the participant’s graduating year (i.e Primary 6).

13. What should I do if I misplaced my Butterfly Award Booklet?
