
Objective
To be at ease with nature and develop stewardship for our environment.
Outdoor learning supports the development of confidence-building as young people are placed in unfamiliar environments outside of the classroom.
It also develops young people’s problem-solving skills, enhances teamwork, strengthens understanding of the natural environment, and inculcates a sense of stewardship for our environment.





Bronze
At least 15 hours of outdoor activities with a specific learning goal.

Silver
At least 24 hours of outdoor activities with a specific learning goal

Gold
At least 36 hours of outdoor activities with a specific learning goal.
Participants can take part in outdoor activities such as expeditions/explorations, taking into consideration the risks involved.
Participants can undertake these activities either individually or as a group. The activities undertaken must have a defined purpose and should give participants the ability to overcome obstacles, meet challenges and enable them to feel a sense of achievement upon completion.
Some of the examples are:
- Camping activities in unfamiliar environments
- Exploration projects with a specific learning purpose
- Hiking trips with a specific learning goal
- Cycling expeditions with a specific learning purpose
- Kayaking/sailing expeditions with a specific learning purpose
- Outdoor nature study programmes with a specific goal
- Programmes organised by Outdoor Adventure Clubs/Organisations
- Outdoor programmes organised by Uniformed Groups
- Schools’ cohort camp either in Singapore or undertaken overseas can qualify for this component
- Outward Bound Courses (for those 15 years and above)
The above list is not exhaustive. Participants can consider other activities that are not listed above. Participants may engage in these activities on their own or through their school.
